Stress has become a part of our daily lives that is an outcome of regular work pressure, tensions at workplace and at home, the need to fulfill innumerable responsibilities and the list goes on and on. But how many of us really know the serious consequences of stress and its harmful effects on our health? Regular stress leads to depression, various heart diseases, hypertensions, high blood pressure, mental problems, and in some cases can even lead to cancer.

The need of the hour is to fight stress in the best possible and effective manner. According to a team of Penn State researchers, a diet rich in Walnuts and Walnut oil can actual prepare the body to fight stress.

Previous studies have also proved that Omega-3 fatty acids found in Walnuts can reduce LDL or Low Density Lipoproteins- bad cholesterol; reduces c-reactive protein and other markers of inflammation. People who show a considerable and increased reaction to stress are always at a higher risk of heart attacks and other heart diseases. After conducting different researches, it was found that diets that included considerable amount of walnut or walnut oil reduced blood pressure during stress.

Some of the participants also underwent a vascular ultrasound in order to measure artery dilation. The results were remarkable that showed adding flax oil to the walnut diet notably improved vascular health. The flax combined with walnuts’ diet also lowered C-reactive protein, which proves an anti-inflammatory effect. According to this study it could also reduce risk of cardiovascular disease.

So eat plentiful of walnuts for a healthy heart and long life!
